COPYWRITING/ PRINT DESIGN


INTRODUCTION

Copywriting / Writing and Editorial / Print Design in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Construction Business, Environmental matter, Art, Travel, Education, Culture, Corporate and Business presentation materials & proposals

  • Build up the concept from the verbal discussion and write up the concept for proposals
  • Paginate and layout for the presentation booklet with drawings and images of projects
  • Write and edit stories for factual information
  • Interview professionals for stories and profiles
  • Write feature stories on personalities, professionals, conferences, events, and new products
  • Write the articles in Japanese with English materials (including localizing, translating and editing) and/ or bilingual in English and Japanese.
  • Edit and paginate feature articles
  • Create headlines, subheads and photo captions for articles
  • Seek out stories for the articles through the wide range professional experience and network nationally and internationally for the publishers.
  • Proofread edited and paginated feature articles from the editors and publishers
  • Sign off on completed pages prior to going to print for publishers
  • Photo shoot for the stories as necessary and/or arrange to acquire the photos and materials through individuals or firms' public relations

 

BACKGROUND

Graduated from Department of Education in English major with B.A. at Nihon University. Acquired the teaching license of English. The first academic comprehensive writing work "Establishment of Vassar College" received the honor for the most outstanding thesis along with the graduation. After the graduation worked for the major general contractor, Taisei Corporation in Tokyo for 6 years. Belonged to Environmental Protection Department at Taisei to edit and paginate Environmental Assessment Reports for various major projects. Specialized for landscape assessment and computer simulation. At the same time selected as a member for the corporate strategy planning team and involved to establish the concept of corporate identity, environmental policy and philanthropy for the company.

During that time in Tokyo, Japan, organized the event group called "Piccolo Fiesta" with friends and held several Art & Music events. Contributed to copywriting for the posters and brochures for those events. Some of those copywriting won the awards along with the graphics done by the collaborators.

Left Tokyo to seek a new career path in 1995. Graduated from Cornell with Master of Landscape Architecture with the honors. Working as Landscape Architect until present. At the same time writing the articles for the magazines to contribute to share the latest trend of design field across the world through the professional network. Writing career for the design magazines started as the passion to promote Landscape Architecture, better understanding to this field among people, and also encourage the collaboration with the outstanding professionals and talents in the design field.

As extension of this activity writing up the design concepts for the projects is one of expertise. Working with the team to target the objectives and goals, focusing on the effective way to describe the concept and vision with important key words and put together the booklet for the presentation. Along with the increasing the demand on internet this expertise is applied to SEO writing for websites.
